KEY COMPONENT LIST (KCL) OVERVIEW
Every product in Vizula contains a Key Component List (KCL) which can be used by the Project Manager to manage a list of key components which may be critical to the ongoing and consistent supply of product once the project has moved into the sales phase. The KCL can be utilised as much or as little as is determined useful by the Project Management team.

Each item in the list contains five fields as follows:-



  • GROUP - The group is defined by the library entry and defines the group the component is associated with.
  • TYPE - The type is defined by the library entry and defines the type the component is associated with.
  • KEY COMPONENT - This is the name of the component as defined by the library entry.
  • NOTES - The notes field can be used to identify second sources, actions or mitigations related to the key component.
  • QTY - The quantity is used to identify how many of the component is used in the product.

In addition to these five fields, the key component also holds a 'Priority' value and can have Hyperlink and Library icons.

Priority
The key component is assigned a 'Priority' which describes the importance / priority of the key component as follows:
  • CRITICAL
  • MAJOR
  • MINOR
  • RESOLVED

The priority can be changed at any time to alter the importance of the key component.

Hyperlinking to Library Item information
If a library item has been hyperlinked, then you can click the hyperlink icon to go straight to the linked page.

Editing a Library Item from the KCL.
A user with Library edit rights can link directly to a library item by clicking the 'Library' icon

Downloading a CSV file
The KCL can be downloaded as a CSV file.
1. Click on the download icon to download the full KCL as a csv file.
USING THE KEY COMPONENT LIST (KCL)
1. Open the KCL by clicking on the 'Key Component List' icon. The KCL will open.




Adding a Key Component from the Library
1. With the KCL opened, click on the 'Add Key Component' icon.
2. The 'Select Library Item' sub-menu will open.



3. Select the library item to add to the KCL.
4. The selected library item will be added to the KCL where you can now modify the quantity in column QTY and start adding notes.




Editing a Key Component Notes & Quantity.
1. Select the item you wish to edit by clicking it. The item will be highlighted as follows:-



2. The notes and quantity on any Key Component can be adjusted directly in the KCL in column QTY

Adding a Library Item from the KCL
If you have Library controller rights, you have the option of adding a new item to the library whilst constructing your Key Component List.
1. With the KCL opened, click on the 'Add Key Component' icon.



2. From the 'Select Library Item' menu, click on the 'Add Library Item' icon and the 'Add Library Item' menu will open.



3. Fill in this menu and click 'ADD'. The 'Add Library Item' menu will close and your new library item will be added to the library. It is now available to add as a key component.
4. The 'Select Library Item' menu will re-open.

Reordering the KCL.
1. Click on any Key Component to put it into edit mode as follows:



2. Once in edit mode, the item position can be changed by pressing the 'up' and 'down' cursor key buttons.
3. The edit mode can be closed by clicking the 'Close Edit' icon on the right hand side of the Key Component. However, it does not need to be closed.

Filtering the KCL
The KCL can be filtered by status value type by clicking on the relevant icon in the filter:-
  • Toggle this filter to show / hide the 'MINOR' items.
  • Toggle this filter to show / hide the 'MAJOR' items.
  • Toggle this filter to show / hide the 'CRITICAL' items.
  • Toggle this filter to show / hide the 'RESOLVED' items.

Deleting a Key Component
1. With the KCL open, click the 'Enable Delete Mode' icon
2. The icon will turn red and all Key Components will be put into delete enable mode, displaying a trash symbol in its left hand column.



3. Click on the Key Component you wish to remove and the a confirmation sub-menu will be displayed asking for confirmation of deleting the item.
4. Click 'DELETE' to remove the item. NOTE: This does not delete the item in the library.
